Ramadan is arriving with all of its blessings and glory. This holy month is a valuable time that is overflowing with rewards although we might be experiencing it under the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, still we can make the most out of it by attempting to do more Ibaadah and strengthening our belief. We begin Ramadan with optimistic and clearly defined goals and accomplishments that we expect to finish by the end of the month. No doubt, many of us failed to achieve them halfway and when we were unable to meet those expectations, it can be discouraging to keep going but still we at least try our best to achieve them. Ramadan is a special time for Muslims and they tend to fast in this holy month for the sake of Allah (SWT) and also refrain from bad habits. Ramadan is the holy month of the Islamic calendar, and Muslims look forward to it throughout the year. Here are some of the goals listed that you should accomplish this Ramadan:
Read the Quran
Many Muslims have a shared vision of reading the full Qur’an during Ramadan month. Even if you are not confident of completing it you must start it by reciting an Ayah after every prayer. Because even tiny actions carry rewards and these small attempts can enable you to acquire comfort and ease. You get the reward on the recitation of each letter of the Quran. In a hadith narrated by Muhammad bin Ka’b Al-Qurazi:
“I heard ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud saying: ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “[Whoever recites a letter] from Allah’s Book, then he receives the reward from it, and the reward of ten the like of it. I do not say that Alif Lam Mim is a letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter.” (Jami` at-Tirmidhi, Book 45, Hadith 3158)
Donate as Much as You Can
The primary purpose of charity in Islam is to promote justice and equality. We must be humble and donate to underprivileged ones on a daily basis especially in Ramadan. This will not only decrease the disparity between the wealthy and the poor, but it will also contribute positively. It is such a graceful and kind act to be performed in Ramadan. Islam established rules that apply to all facets of life. It doesn’t matter how much you are giving but what matters is that you should give to the needy ones. Make it your goal in Ramadan as it is also the practice of our Holy Prophet (S.A.W). It is also mandated on all eligible Muslims as Zakat.
Go for Tarawih Prayers
It is disheartening to watch people skip this valuable Ramadan practice. Tarawih prayers begin after Isha prayers and last for several hours. Most people completely overlook them or just pray a part of it. Make sure to attend the Tarawih prayers if you want to get the most out of Ramadan this month. Praying solely would be amazing, but praying in a religious community is even better. Ramadan’s blessings include a feeling of togetherness but make sure to follow all the SOPs of COVID-19.
Performing Umrah in Ramadan is such a blessing that only rare ones get. Add an Umrah tour to add in your list as performing Umrah in the month of Ramadan holds great significance in Islam. You get a lot from this pilgrimage, fasting and worshiping in the House of Allah (SWT) is just miraculous. You feel really close to your lord and try your best to please Him. Undertaking this ritual is important as its blessings and rewards are like that of Hajj. It is mentioned in a Hadith:
Verily `Umrah in Ramadan is equal to Hajj (in reward). (Sahih al-Bukhari 1782)
So you must perform it in Ramadan and try booking in advance as you can easily avail low-cost Ramadan Umrah packages. This would be beneficial for you in different terms and you can get a lot of benedictions and mercies from Allah (SWT). In addition, you can also mark your presence on Roza-e-Rasool (S.A.W).
Abstain from Lies, Abuse, or Backbiting
As an individual, we possess a lot of bad habits and we should stop them starting from this Ramadan. Ramadan is not only about staying away from food rather it prevents you from telling lies, abusive language, backbiting, smoking, misbehaving, and many worse habits. Think about your habits and try to improve them as much as you can. The month of graces will empower the people to combat your bad habits and negative thoughts and will let you become a good human.
Ask Forgiveness and Forgive Others
Repent to Allah and ask forgiveness from all your past committed sins. He will definitely forgive you if your intentions are pure. Moreover, also ask forgiveness to those whom you’ve done bad with, this will make you feel light and good. And if you are still mad at someone who has hurt you badly in the past then try forgiving them, this will also make you feel great as forgiving is also great for the soul.
